After a last farewell visit from beloved wife Winnie of 66 years, William Mouland of Lewisporte peacefully passed at age 90. Taking solace in the infinite lessons of learning, love and life that he bestowed are Bill's trio of caring and devoted children: daughters Bernice (Gerry) and Phyllis and son Horace (Debbie).

Hailing from Musgrave Harbour, Bill joins his brothers Reginald, Douglas and Horace, and sisters Mollie, Nettie and Emma. Carrying forward his legacy of learning, sharing among them eleven postsecondary degrees and diplomas, are grandchildren Stephen (Kira), Deborah (Andrew) , Matthew (JJ), Charity (Rick) and Carolyn, and great-grandchildren Julia and Kilian. Bill will be dearly missed by brother-in-law Scott and wife Ivy Hicks, as well as a vast array of extended family, friends, colleagues and past pupils.

A graduate of Memorial University, Bill's 37-year tenure as an educator and administrator shaped the lives of countless students, colleagues and communities. Having first embarked upon his teaching path in Horwood, he ultimately retired in Lewisporte after a benevolent career that imparted both knowledge and virtues of diligence, discipline and respect to the generations he taught. As a fixture outside of the classroom in the community at large, Bill was instrumental in establishing the 617 Dambusters Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets and was a dedicated Past Master of the Masonic Lodge and long-time member of the Lion's Club. He faithfully served the St. Matthew's United Church as an AOTS Men's Group member, usher and Sunday School Superintendent/Teacher.

During his well-deserved retirement, Bill could be seen partaking in daily walks to the Post Office before heading south with Winnie to their Florida home each Winter for nearly two decades. Staying true to his insatiable appetite for learning, Bill's sharp skills persisted and endured the burden of his advanced age to enjoy solving algebra puzzles during his final respite at the North Haven Manor. Special thanks to Bill's North Haven family for providing bountiful humour, stories, friendship and care throughout the last four years.

Memories of Bill will be shared during visitation at Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home on Friday, October 2nd from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm . Bill's life will be commemorated by a funeral service at St. Matthew's United Church on Saturday, October 3rd at 4:00pm. Donations in lieu of flowers will be graciously accepted in Bill's memory to support the St. Matthew's United Church Cemetery Fund.
