Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family at the age 93 years old.

Wilfred was born at Baytona (Birchy Bay North) on September 28, 1928, the son to the late William and Rebecca Lewis.  Wilfred met Marion Ivy Pope and she became the love of his life.  They married on December 9, 1957 and were blessed with two sons and five daughters.

Wilfred was predeceased by his parents, William and Rebecca Lewis;  brothers, Andrew, Samuel and Simon Lewis;  sister, Phoebe Head.

He leaves loving memories to be cherished by his wife, Ivy; seven children, Dinah (Richard), Dennis (Alvina), Jocelyn (Francis), Janice (Guy), Vanessa (Shawn), Lyndon (Tiffany) and Carolyn (Douglas);  His 13 grandchildren, Corey, Crystal lee, Jennifer, Jeanette, Melissa, Adam, Trevor, Ashley, Gregory, Samantha, Shannon, James and Jillian; His 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren;  His siblings, Lindsay, Gerald, Cyril, Leah, Lorraine, Marie, Mavis as well as a large number of relatives and friends.

Wilfred was a hard working and ambitious man.  He started work with the AND Company in 1944 at the age of 16 as a logger.  For 10 years he helped his parents support his siblings. On July 6, 1954, he opened the Lewis' Superette General Store.  He also started a taxi business in 1955 and worked as a carrier with Canada Post in 1958. Wilfred also opened Wilfred Lewis & Sons sawmill in 1965.

He joined the Orange Lodge in 1946 at 18 years of age.  In his early years, he was a member of the United School Board.  He was also an active member of the Salvation Army Men's fellowship.

Wilfred's love for God and serving him was of utmost importance to him and continued to be his desire until his final days.  He was a great friend to all and he was loved wherever he went.  His greatest accomplishment was his family whom he loved and cared for deeply.  He will always be remembered for his love for music, sharp memory and storytelling.  We will all miss his daily phone calls, birthday wishes and him singing his favorite song, "When The Sun Comes Up Tomorrow."  Wilfred loved life and treated each day as a blessing.  He taught his family how to love each other.

The family would like to thank his homecare workers Joanne, Sharon and Natasha, whom he loved dearly.  Also special thanks to his two special nurses (granddaughters) Crystal Lee and Jeanette who made it possible to spend his final days at home.

As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted to the Anglican Church Cemetery Fund, Baytona, NL.

Public visitation will take place at the Beacon Pentecostal Church, Birchy Bay on Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 2-5 & 7-9 PM. At 2 PM the Orange Lodge will be doing a little service.

The funeral service will take place at the Beacon Pentecostal Church, Birchy Bay on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 2 PM. This service will be livestreamed. The interment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Baytona, NL.
