Titus William Whiteway's Obituary
Titus William Whiteway passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre, Gander, NL on September 19, 2016. Titus was born on November 6, 1923 to Myles and Blanche (Stuckless) Whiteway. On June 13, 1949, he married Rose Burt of Samson's Island, and together they raised seven children.
Titus is predeceased by his parents, Myles & Blanche;brother, Chesley Perry; sister, Janie Bulgin; nephew, Alvin Bulgin; niece, Lorrain Jenkins; his infant great-grandson, Sam Whiteway.
Left to mourn him are his wife of 67 years, Rose; children Murray (Sheila), Evelyn (Carl Saunders), Olga (Kyle Keeping), Oral (Lisa), Terry (Angela), Smith (Janice) and Gail (Daniel Huang); grandchildren, Tina (Kevin Wells), Jennifer (David Seward), Byron (Stacey), Jillian Saunders, Megan Saunders (Jason Moisan), Julia Keeping (Shane Ryan), Ashley (Rod Loubert), Reegan McKie, Conner, Amanda (Simon Penney), Stephen (Aimee); great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Joshua and Noah Wells, Shayla and Carma McKie, and Jaxson and Charley Whiteway. He also leaves to mourn his sister, Agnes (Pearce Anstey) of Cottlesville,NL;as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; as well as the the extended Whiteway family.
Titus spent his early years on Samson's Island and later moved to Little Burnt Bay where he built his own home and raised his family. He worked as a fisherman, in the lumber woods, and most of his life as a carpenter. Titus converted to Pentecostalism in 1942 and was a faithful member of Bethel Pentecostal Church in Little Burnt Bay, NL until his death. He had a great love of Newfoundland and spent many summers touring the island.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. The public visitation took place Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 2-4 pm & 7-9 P from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte, NL.
The memorial service took place from the Pentecostal Church, Little Burnt Bay on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 2 PM.
Donations in memory of Titus can be made to Canadian Blood Services. The family would like you to consider becoming a blood donor in his honor.
