Obituary

Robert Hillier passed peacefully away at Lakeside Home in Gander on April 14th, 2025 at the age of 87. Robert was born on October 3rd 1937. Robert spent the majority of his life in Campbellton and in recent years moved to Gander.

Robert was predeceased by his parents, Dorman and Daisy Hillier; his first-wife Marion; his brothers, Lloyd and Don; and his sisters Janet, Ruth, and Joyce.

Leaving to mourn is his wife Joyce; daughter, Angela (Dave); son, Stephen (Louella); granddaughter, Abigail; stepson, Marshall (Pansy); stepdaughter, Elaine (Raymond); step-grandchildren, Heather, Jamie, Megan and Kayla; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Dawson, Deacon, Ryan, Jaden, Kaidan and Eli; sister, Maude, and many others.

Right from the start, Robert looked to help others as much as he could. He was a dedicated logger and volunteer firefighter. Long after he finished his career working away at the Millertown log camp with Abitibi-price, he continued his love for the woods by frequently chopping wood and stocking his woodpile at home. Robert spent most of his days working in his gardens beside his home in Campbellton. He was incredibly proud of all the food he was able to grow and share with others.

Robert was quite the Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune fan—often answering the questions before the contestants had a chance to! He made an impact everywhere he went in life and instilled the importance of laughter, care, and hard work. Robert fully embraced all the roles he had in life, especially the ones he loved most: son, husband, father, and foster parent.
