Passed quietly at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre in Gander on July 21st, 2023, at the age of 60. Predeceased by this parents, Harrison and Louisa Porter.

Leaving to mourn his brother Kevin (Florence), Breynat, AB, sister Judy (Reginald) Matthews, Pasadena, NL, sister Diann (Michael [d. 2023]) Cochrane, Gander, NL, brother Tony (Debbie), Porterville, NL, and brother Paul (Margaret), Porterville, NL. Also left to mourn are nieces Karen, Lynn, Carla, Janice, Emily; nephews, Calvin, Kenneth, Phillip, Tim, Russell, Rodney, as well as grandnephews, and a large circle of friends.

Born and raised in Porterville, Rick enjoyed the freedom of a rural upbringing. He was a happy, carefree kid, more than occasionally getting into mischief. His working life took him to various places across the country. The last number of years were spent providing boat repair, and other, services to towns in Nunavik, Northern Quebec. Rick's community visits were much appreciated, and he made many friends up North. Rick was often invited to participate in activities normally reserved for the locals.

The family would very much like to thank all the staff at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre who administered care to Rick during his time there. In particular they want to thank Dr. Al-Dulaimi and Dr. Paulus, who both patiently supported family members.

Cremation will take place.

There will be a visitation at Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, on Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM.
