Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 23, 2026 at North Haven Manor, Lewisporte, NL, Mr. Reginald Ross Porter at the age of 83 years.

Ross was born to Arthur and Lillian Porter in Porterville.  He met Nellie Hurley from Turtle Creek, Newstead. They got married and settled down in Brown's Arm and built a home for themselves and their children, Cathy, Chris and Corey. He drove for a Trucking company as a heavy equipment operator first when they got married. Later on in his life he took up fishing with his wife Nellie, side by side they worked together for years. He had a great love for water and for nature. He also loved animals, especially his dog, Harley. He had a great love for music and could take up any instrument and make it sing. He loved to hear people singing and it brought joy to him and he would often gather with the Hurley girls and get them to sing while he played and he often visited the home in Porterville and ministered to them. He loved his children, grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. They were his pride and joy, and like poppy's do, he allowed them to get off with anything. It often brought tears of joy to him while in the nursing home when someone spoke their names. Ross became sick and Nellie was no longer able to care for him. He ended up in the Nursing Home in Gander in July, 2025.  Later he was brought to the North Haven Manor where Nellie visited and cared for him as best as she could until he passed peacefully away on September 23, 2026 surrounded by his wife, family and friends.  He will be greatly missed by all.

He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur & Lillian Porter; infant daughter; sister, Vera Conway.

Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Nellie; daughter, Cathy (Clyde); sons, Chris, Corey (Krista); grandchildren, Dallas, Lily, Kaylee, Aleah; great-grandchildren, Emily, Destiny, Jake; brother, Scott (Sandra); niece & nephews, Sherri-Lyn, Jason, Dean, and a large circle of family and friends.

Public Visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL, on September 25, 2026 From 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

The Funeral Service will take place from to the United Church, Porterville, NL on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 2 PM.

As expressions of sympathy flowers or donations to United Cemetery, Porterville, NL would be gratefully accepted.
