Philip was born in Chance Cove, Trinity Bay. In the fall of 1951, while teaching in Carmanville, he fell in love with Vera Cuff of that Community. They were married on June 29, 1955. Their life together was blessed with three sons and a daughter. Vera passed away in 2011 after a long struggle with cancer. In 2012, Philip became reacquainted with Winnie (Calloway) Parsons, his former schoolteacher. They were married in October of that year. Winnie passed away in 2020.
Philip was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Elizabeth (Rowe) Brace; his stepfather, Wallace Green; his infant sister, Anne Meleata Green; sister-in-law, Sheila Brace and stepson, Gary Parsons.
Left to mourn his passing with fond and loving memories are his sons, Alister, Alton (Dona), Ronald (Denise); daughter, Diane Brace and daughter-in-law, Shirley; grandchildren, Jasmin (Scott Downey),Philip (Sarah) Brace Jr., Jared (Kathleen) Brace, Caitlin (Brandon Paul), Alison Goodyear, Jenny Brace (Chad) and Cassandra Brace; great-grandchildren, Scarlet Downey, Saxon Downey, Shelby Downey, Jackson Brace-St. Croix, Kiera Paul, and Abel Rogers ; brothers, Kenneth Brace and John (Ina) Green; stepdaughter, Cathy Parsons; stepson, Lorne Parsons as well as other relatives and friends. Philip's life work was that of a schoolteacher/administrator. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and an ardent Salvationist.
Public visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte on Thursday, July 21 st from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will take place from the Salvation Army Citadel, Lewisporte on Friday, July 22 nd at 2PM. The interment will follow from the Salvation Army Cemetery, Lewisporte.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Salvation Army Cemetery Fund, Lewisporte will be gratefully accepted.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte.
