Peggy (Momo)
Viola Mongeau
Sep 22, 1940 — May 3, 2026
Peggy Viola Guy Mongeau known to us all as Momo, age 85, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026.
Born on September 22, 1940, in Carmanville, Peggy was the beloved daughter of Olive and Earl Guy. She was known for her kindness, humor, strength, and stubbornness.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Sue; son-in-law, Sam; son, John; daughter-in-law, Leigh Ann; her grandchildren, Samantha (Nick), Jenny (Keith), Jessica, Megan, Amanda and Dan; and her cherished great-grandchildren Beau, Charlotte, Banner, Tennessee, Olivia, Stella, and Taylor. She is also survived by her sister, Jackie.
She was predeceased by her parents, Olive and Earl Guy; her brother, Walter; her best friend, Melinda; dearest cousin, Audrey; her husband John and brother-in-law, David Maciaac.
Peggy was always willing to lend a helping hand and wanted to help anyone she could. You could often find her at the kitchen sink, washing dishes with a cup of coffee close by. She was always the first to show up when someone needed her or when there was an opportunity to volunteer. She was our oldest standing library board member of the Carmanville public library. She was an adventurous lady who was game for anything you mind to throw at her even zip-lining in her 70s. She was a tough cookie with the softest heart, and there was nothing she wouldn't do for her family. She loved spending time watching her favorite TV shows tucked away in her TV room, and she was always quick to laugh, even if she was the only one laughing.
Above all, Peggy will be remembered for her deep love of family, her sense of humor, and her generosity.
Public visitation will take place from the Pentecostal Church, Carmanville on Wednesday, May 6th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will take place from the church on Thursday, May 7th at 11 AM. Interment will follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Carmanville, NL.
Momo will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL.
