It is with great sadness that the family of Mildred Isabelle Brenson announce her passing on Friday, September 5, 2026 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital. She was 92.

Mildred was born November 10, 1933, the only daughter of Atwood and Clementine Brett of Campbellton. She married John (Jack) Brenson December 22, 1951 and they spent 61 years together until his passing on Christmas Eve 2012. Mildred was the last surviving child of Atwood and Clementine, having been predeceased by her brothers Lloyd, Harvey, Scott and Wilson, as well as sisters-in-law Lucy, Doreen, Minnie and Brenda.

While Mildred and Jack didn't have any children of their own, they were surrounded by her many nieces and nephews, and grand and great grandnieces and nephews whom she adored. They were all attentive to her needs in her final days, and were blessed to spend final moments with their dear Aunt Mildred. She is also survived by her close friend, Lori Warr and her family, who saw her as a mother and grandmother.

Mildred lived her married life in Buchans and Loon Bay. She lived alone for 10 years after Jack's death, and moved from her apartment in Loon Bay in 2022 to Ocean Breeze Retirement Home in Brown's Arm where she flourished. She always rejected the idea of a senior's home, and came to the decision to move there on her own when she was ready. She made many friends in her time there, and photos of events from Ocean Breeze often had her front and centre with her characteristic big smile, sparkling eyes and mischievous nature. She was a lover of animals, chocolate and good music. She was a devout Christian who dedicated her life to following the Lord on May 30,1999; in her final days she was comforted greatly by listening to gospel songs and raising her arms in praise.

Many thanks to the nursing staff at the James Paton Memorial Hospital and Dr. Habashi for their constant care and attention, patience and compassion. Much gratitude also to the staff of Ocean Breeze Retirement Home for giving her a comfortable and happy life for the last four years.

Aunt Mildred will be forever remembered as a kind, compassionate soul who greeted everyone with grace and love. Her light shone brightly and warmed everyone who was fortunate to bask in her light. Her final moments can be summed up in a note written in her Bible:

I'm going home with Jesus in the twinkling of an eye.

I've made my reservation for a mansion in the sky.

I may not know the moment; I may not know the day.

I know that I"ll be leaving when his church is called away.

Public visitation will take place from the Full Gospel Tabernacle, Campbellton, on Monday, September 7th from 2-5 PM.

The Funeral service will take place from Full Gospel Tabernacle, Campbellton on Tuesday, September 8th at 1 PM. Interment to follow at the United Cemetery, Loon Bay.
