Passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Lewisporte Health Center, Lewisporte, NL after a 2-year battle with cancer, Mr. Melvin Lewis Nichol, age 79 years.  Melvin was born in Seldom on August 17, 1945.  He met Shirley Lillian Preston in 1966 and they got married March 9, 1968.  They had three children, Deanne, John and Kim.  He had one grandson, Michael who was raised in Ontario.

Left to mourn his passing with fond and loving memories are his children, a large number of family and friends and his fur baby, Teddy.  He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley; parents, Ananias and Winnie Nichol; sisters, Flora, Stella and Jean; parents-in-laws, John and Ida Preston.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will a burial service for family and friends on Thursday, October 3rd,11 AM at the Salvation Army Cemetery.

A special thank-you to the staff of North Haven Manor for the care and compassion shown to dad. You'll never know how much we appreciated it.
