Passed peacefully away at the  North Haven Manor in the presence of his loving wife and daughter, Mr. Maxwell Porter, a lifelong resident of Porterville, NL, aged 92 years.

Max is survived by his wife of 73 years, Sheila; daughter, Maxine (Barry) Woolfrey; sons, Dennis (Florence), Barry (Alice) and David (Alma).He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories of POP eight grandchildren, Jody (Jo-Anne) Woolfrey, Heather (Geoff) Beaton, Denise (Steve) Stuckless, Darryl (Gerrilynn) Porter, Michael (Natalie) Porter, Jenna (Trevor) Manuel, Dylan (Jill) Porter and Sarah Porter; ten great-grandchildren, Amelia, Martha, Caleb, Cayden, Kaitlyn, Tara, Grace; poppy Max's littlest ones Hannah, Brett and Ben; sisters-in-law, Meta Hillier and Margaret LaFrense; brother-in-law, Lloyd Hillier (Isabelle) as well as a large circle of other family and friends.

He is predeceased by his parents, Caleb and Sarah Porter and was the baby brother to his deceased siblings, Harold, Harrison (his farm/forestry partner for many years) and Asaph; as well as his nine sisters, Gladys, Phyllis, Jessie, Julie, Edna, Edith, Lucy, Audrey and Minnie; half-brother, Archibald and half-sister, Susan (Samuel Butler).

Public visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL on Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.

The funeral service will be held at the United Church in Porterville, NL on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 2 PM with limited seating capacity. The family requests that everyone mask for both the visitation and the funeral service.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Porterville United Church will be gratefully accepted.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all of the staff of the Long Term Care Unit at the Lewisporte Health Center as well as Dr. Wayne Collins and the homecare workers who cared so lovingly for Max in these recent years. If you find yourself singing "The Cat Had a Kitten and the Kitten Had a Pup" or even a little yodel, you would be doing Max proud!
