Passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Lionel Kelland Hospice, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Purchase, age 96. She was surrounded by her family.

Lizzie is predeceased by her husband Lewis; parents, Samuel and Ida (Burt)Sharron; parents-in-law, Peter and Amy Purchase; infant daughter; son-in-law, Winston Hollett; one sister; three brothers; six brother-in-laws and six sister-in-laws.

Mom was born in Point Leamington on January 2, 1930. In 1945, she came to Norris Arm to help her aunt. Met the love of her life, and after a short courtship were married on June 21, 1946.

Better known as Aunt Lizzie or Lizzie-Lewis, she was always there to lend a helping hand. Mom loved to have her hands in flour. She made many wedding cakes, some traveled across Canada. She sewed, once making a Salvation Army Uniform for her friend. She knit socks, mitts and if you came, you left with a pair. In the last years, she started knitting teddy bears to send overseas, one year she knit 110.

She was a janitor at the school for years, where she made friends with all the children. She helped the children with their lunches and formed many memories and friendships.

Leaving with fond and loving memories, her daughters, Evelyn (Winston passed in 2018) Hollett, Madge (Jerry) Dinn, Marilyn (Woodrow) Fudge; grandchildren, Todd (Tracey) Hollett, Jeffery (Imelda) Hollett. John (Tina) Hunt, Amy (Corey Prouse) Hollett, Rea-Ann (Paul Lesley) Dinn, Ryan Dinn (Matt Fox), Blair (Sabrina) Fudge, Byron (Christine) Fudge; great-grandchildren, Jessica Hollett (Matt Boone), Cassandra (Tim) Stacey, Jake (Juliette) Hollett, Nathan (Mariel) Hollett, Noah Hollett, Emma Coley, Maria Coley, Ian (Jads) Noble, Dustin (Michaela) Noble, Ethan Fudge, Ryan Fudge, Scotty (Rebecca) Prouse. Jasmine (Chris Penney) Prouse, Brady (Debra-lee) Prouse; great great-grandchrildren, Ty, Parker, Paige, Hannah, Lyla, Brixton, Taylor, Holly, Dannie, Jacob, Jaiden, Julian, Sierra, Lewis, Alexandria, Vlad, Scarlett, Gabriel, Lilly, Jordyn, Jayce, Josie, Felix, Hailey and Scarlett.

She also leaves many special people whom she loved very much, especially her next door neighbor, who always plowed her driveway, nephews and nieces.

Mom was well known by many, friend to all. We have lots of memories, which we will cherish and talk about a lot.

Mom had a life that wasn't easy when she was young. But her faith and trust in the Lord, brought her through many difficult times. She had lots of friends and loved to help anyone. You will be missed mom, but we have a hope of seeing you again. For 28 years, you wanted to take the journey and on Friday, God granted your wish.

You are gone, taken a piece of our hearts, but never forgotten.

Thank-you to anyone who visited or called mom, while she was here in the home. Thank-you to Dr. Campbell and the staff at Lionel Kelland Hospice for their care and friendliness, while mom was with them. It was a home away from home.

Public Visitation will take place from the Riverside United Church, Norris Arm, NL on Monday, March 23, 2026 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM.

The Funeral Service will take place from the Riverside United Church, Norris Arm, NL on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 2PM. Interment to follow from the Riverside United Cemetery, Norris Arm, NL.

As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Riverside United Cemetery Fund or The Lionel Kelland Hospice would be gratefully accepted.
