It is with heavy but thankful hearts we announce the passing of Martin Head of Comfort Cove in his 91st year. Pre-deceased by his parents, Lewis and Clara Head; sisters, Mary(Nathaniel Cull) and Sadie(Desmond French), brother, Willis; nephew, Chesley Cull, and brother-in-law, Albert Oake.

Thanking God for the gift of his life are his wife of 61 years Ruby; his children: Joan(Mike Power), Kevin(Janette), Jerry(Jacqueline), Neil(Danny), Gloria(Brian Hill), Craig(Jennifer), Chris(Tammy); his 16 grandchildren: Michelle(Darren Freake), Jeffrey(Carolyn), Michael and Melissa; David, Matthew and Rebecca(Joanne); Megan(Jeff Beaton), Michael and Jordan; Charlene and Ashley(Tim); Nicole and Ryan; Tara and Paige; his two great-grandchildren, Zackary and Emily Beaton; siblings, Priscilla, Raymond(Phoebe), Gerald(Kathleen), sister-in-law, Jean and niece, Madeline Elliott and a large circle of other relatives and friends.


Special thanks to the nurses and staff of James Paton Memorial Hospital and 4 East at St. Claire's Hospital for your compassionate care during his short illness. Dad was a man of great faith! He put his trust in God to lead him in life and we know his soul is now at peace with Him in death!


The public visitation took place Friday, July 22, 2016 from 7–9 pm from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte, NL; Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 2–4 pm and 7–9 pm from Bethel United Church in Comfort Cove, NL.

The funeral service took place from Bethel United Church Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 2 pm followed by internment at the United Church Cemetery, Comfort Cove.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Bethel United Memorial Fund.
