Marie Rideout passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, at Pleasant View Towers in St. John's.

Predeceased by her husband of 50 years Ted; stepdaughter Donna; her parents Sidney and Effie Wells;16 siblings.

Marie leaves with fond memories her daughters, Ellen (Greg), Kitty (Sean); sons, Edward (Julie), Sam; sister, Louise; brother-in-law, Don (Elsie), and extended family. Also left to mourn her loss are grandchildren BettyAnn, Marie, Johnathan, Joshua (Holly), Patricia (Steve),Victoria (Christopher), Matthew (Jordyn), Rebekah (Brandon), Jane, and many great-grandchildren.

Marie was born and raised in Campbellton, where she met Ted and raised their family. Marie loved to bake and share her baked goods with anyone who would accept them. She was especially known for her delicious tea biscuits and lemon pie and won many prizes over the years at local fairs. She was gifted at sewing, quilting, and crafting of all sorts.

She was very active in community organizations, including Girl Guides, 4-H, and the Ladies' Auxiliary. Marie volunteered for years as a church organist and was frequently found in local nursing homes providing musical entertainment for seniors. She loved playing the guitar, mouth organ, and button accordion. In 2011, at the age of 70, Marie rode her bicycle from Campbellton to Lewisporte to raise money for the Campbellton Fire Department, which was dear to her heart. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and especially enjoyed having picnics at the beach, which she would never leave without a bag of beach garbage. Rumour has it that she was also a gifted mummer.

Marie deeply appreciated each and every visitor who came to see her during her time at Bishops Gardens and Pleasant View Towers. Thank you to all the staff who helped with her care throughout her stays.

As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to the Campbellton Fire Department or, since Marie gave so much of her time and talents, one may consider simply "paying it forward."

Public Visitation and reception will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL on Saturday, May 23, 2026 from 5-7 PM.

The Funeral Service for family and close friends will take place from the Funeral Home on Sunday, May 24th at 2 PM .The interment will follow at the Old Salvation Army Cemetery, Campbellton, NL
