Passed peacefully on Thursday July 31, 2025 at her family's home in St. John's,  Mrs. Marie Nita (Parsons) Blackwood, age 97 years of Carmanville.

She is predeceased by her husband, Cyril James Blackwood; her parents, Mary (nee Wicks) and James Parsons; sister, Sarah Carter and brothers, Herbert Parsons (Nita), and Edgar Parsons (Kathleen).

Left to mourn her passing are family members-her son, Barry (Wilhelmina); grandchildren, Angela Blackwood (Paul Herridge) and Adena Hutchings, her great- granddaughter, Calliope and great-grandson, Lyric; and special friends, Melvina Blackwood, Effie Gillingham, Margaret Parsons, Fern Bown and Lorna Angell.

After retiring from her career with the Canada Post Office, Marie enjoyed singing at the United church and volunteering with the United Church Woman in Carmanville.

No flowers by request, but instead donations in Marie's memory can be made to the War-Amps of Canada or the Emmanuel United Church, Carmanville.

Funeral Service will take place on Friday August 15th, 2025, from the United Church, Carmanville, at 1:30PM. Interment will follow from the United Church Cemetery, Carmanville.
