Passed peacefully away on Monday, May 25th, 2026 at the Lionel Kelland Hospice. Major Triffie Cole was 81 years old.

Born on May 19th, 1945 to the late Stephen and Emma Janes of Embree.  The oldest of 6 children, she was adored by her siblings. Her kind and gentle spirit made everyone in her presence feel an instant connection and love for her. With a love for serving, Triffie spent time on Exploit's Island and soon realized her calling to be a Salvation Army Officer.

During her officer training, she met a young man from Stanhope - Roy Cole. They instantly fell in love and married July 27, 1966. They shared almost 60 years of marriage and 40 years of ministry together. Their ministry spanned 12 different communities from Woodstock, NL to Scarborough, Ont. to St. John's. NL. 11 appointments were spent pastoring in the church, and their final posting overseeing the Wisemen Centre and Harbour Light in St. John's, NL.

A sincere and compassionate lady, Triffie and Roy raised three children, Steve, Bill, and Pam.  In 2002 they retired in Lewisporte, NL, near two of their children and loved visiting their son Bill and family in Winnipeg.  They enjoyed planning summer trips of visiting communities around Newfoundland to special trips to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, or to friends and family across the country. Triffie also had a passion for quilt making and enjoyed her time learning and laughing with her quilting friends.

Predeceased by loving husband Roy Cole, parents Stephen and Emma Janes, in laws William and Myrtle Cole, brothers Stephen and Terry Janes, sister Judy Janes, in laws Hardy Bursey, Roland Colbourne, Carl Bowes, and Albert Foss. Leaving to mourn, her children - Stephen (Marie), Bill (Tanya), and Pam (Bev). Grandchildren - Nicholas (Stephanie), Marika (Richard), Chloe, Will, Jack, Kai, Nevaeh, and Phoenix. Great grandchildren - Rachel, Wyatt, Claire, and Luke. Siblings Mary, Frances (Pat), and brother and sister in laws Joyce, Daphne, Bernice, Bruce (Brenda), Tony (Jessie). Many dear nieces and nephews that held a special place in her heart.

Triffie dedicated her life to loving and giving to others, caring and praising her children, and living a joyously happy life with her husband Roy.

Public visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte on Wednesday, May 27,2026 from 2-4PM & 7-9PM.

The funeral service will take place from The Salvation Army Church, Lewisporte, NL on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 12:30PM. The interment will follow at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Lewisporte.

As expressions of sympathy flowers or donations can be made to the Salvation Army Sound System will be gratefully accepted.
