Passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Lewisporte Health Center, Lewisporte, NL, Mrs. Loretta Eva Sheppard, aged 92 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; parents, Ambrose and Bessie Coish; parents-in-law, Cornelius & Susanna Sheppard; brothers, James, Wallace, & Will; sisters, Ella & Nellie.
She married Gordon Sheppard on October 19, 1949. They lived in Stagg Harbor, NL until deciding to move to Lewisporte in 1968. Together they were blessed with a loving family.
Leaving to mourn her passing are her 4 children, Velma (Calvert Burry), Christine (Clyde Hillier), Jean (Alonzo Power), & Douglas (Claudette); 8 grandchildren, Colette (Mike), Amy (Gerard), Jennette, Brent (Natasha), Wendy (Craig), Selena (Sheldon), Mark, & Katie (Jake); 10 great-grandchildren, Emma, Samantha, Maria, Natalie, Leah, Cole, Matthew, Noah, Michael, & Molly; as well as a large circle of other relatives & friends.
She was a dedicated United Church member & was very involved in the United Church Women's group. She would volunteer her time for different church functions making sandwiches for church events or just giving up her own time to help out. She was also a member of the North Haven Women's Auxiliary.
She was happiest when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved them coming to visit and always wanted them to stay as long as they could.
She is loved deeply and will be missed by her family and friends.
Public visitation took place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 7-9 PM. The funeral service took place from St. Matthews United Church, Lewisporte, NL, Wednesday August 29, 2018 at 2 PM. The interment followed at St. Matthew's United Church cemetery, Lewisporte, NL.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully accepted.
