Obituary

Passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 at the North Haven Manor, Lewisporte, Mr. Lewis F. Nichol, age 89 years.

Lewis Frederick Nichol was born March 3, 1925 to Leonard and Clementine Nichol of Seldom, Fogo Island.
On January 24, 1948 he married Mildred Leah Sheppard of Stag Harbour and together they began a journey filled with love and devotion. They were blessed with four children Llewellyn (Lois), Rosabelle (deceased), Sharon (Scott) Hodder, and Lewis (Paula). Through the following years they were blessed with seven grandchildren; Jamie, Jody, Philip, Amanda, Leah, Sarah, and Maria, as well as three great-grandchildren Abigail, Brady, and Brooklyn.

In 1993 he faced heartbreak with the loss of his beloved wife Mildred. He subsequently found comfort and refuge when he married Stella Scott (who predeceased him in 2008). This marriage brought into his life five step-children Kathleen (Alonzo) White, Doreen (Gerald) Lacey, Linda (Steven) Ashton, William (Brigit) Scott, Ena (Dennis) Cooper, along with ten step-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild.

Also, leaving to mourn four sisters, Mildred (Jack) Rowe, Ethel Reddicks, Blanche (Ray) Butt, Ruby (Martin) Head.

Predeceased by his parents Leonard and Clementine Nichol, brother Donald Nichol and sisters Barbara Bixby and Winnifred Nichol.

On Monday morning, November 10, shortly after 7 AM Lewis slipped quietly into the presence of his Lord and Saviour whom he had served faithfully for many years. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Public visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte on Tuesday, November 11th from 7-9 and Wednesday, November 12th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

The Funeral Service will take place from the Philadelphia Pentecostal Tabernacle, Lewisporte on Thursday, November 13th at 2 PM.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Gideons or a Charity of one's choice will be gratefully accepted.
