Obituary

It is with great sadness after a short battle with cancer that the family of the late Leo Higgins announce his peaceful passing at the Central NL Regional Health Care Center, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Monday, July 10, 2023, age 89 years.

He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine(Kay);  parents, John and Mary; brothers, Harold Bernard(Meta), John ( Ellen ), Andrew (Monica), Ronald (Ellen ) and Frankie (Sandra); sisters,  Ethel, Madge (Jim) and Nellie (Ed); great-granddaughter, Julia

Leo was a husband , father , grandfather, great- grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and neighbour to many.

Left to mourn his passing with fond and loving memories are his 5 sons, Wayne (Marjorie), Vince (Janet), Darren (Ann),  Roger (Tanya), Trevor (Debbie); his 2 daughters, Joan (Glenn) and Bonnie (John); grandchildren, Robin, Jeffery, Latoya,  Garrylee, Gennilea, Melissa, Shane, Gillian, Chantel, Haily, Samantha, Dena and Jenny; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Evan, Emma, Ethan, Kaylee ,Cole, Sophia, Addison, Abby, Devon and Michael; brother,  Leonard (Heather) and a large circle of other relatives and friends.

Leo was always known for his love for the woods, a man that was always on the move, playing cards and darts and any gathering with Family and Friends.

Thank-you to the staff of Golden Years Estate, St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's and Central NL Regional Heath Care Center, Grand Falls-Windsor for all the love and excellent care given to Leo during his time there.

Public visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 6-8 PM.

The funeral service will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 11 AM. In keeping with Leo's wishes, cremation is to follow.

An interment will take place on Saturday, July 15, 2023, 1:30 PM at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Norris Arm, NL.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be gratefully accepted.
