On January 19, 1930 Arthur John Brinson was born on Change Islands to John & Ada Brinson. John was one of seven children. On April 2, 1957, he married Vera Mabel Wells, daughter of Sidney & Chloe Wells. John & Vera raised three children Stephen, Pansy and Jerry, whom they loved dearly. In his early years, John worked in the Lumber Woods, but for the majority of his life he enjoyed earning a living from the sea, as a hardworking fisherman. In 1992, John retired from the commercial fishery and in the year 2000, John and his wife Vera moved to their new home in Michael's Harbour. John and Vera developed strong friendships throughout their life and their hospitality around the kitchen table was enjoyed by many.

John leaves to mourn his loving wife Vera, his children; Stephen (Lorraine), Pansy (Wayne) and Jerry (Angela), his five grandchildren; Christopher (Courtney), Kenneth (Melanie), Junior (Caroline), Christina & Hannah and his eight great-grandchildren; Natalie, Danika, Coby, Natasha, Daniel, Hunter, Hayden and Khloe. John also leaves to mourn his brothers; Sydney (Susie), George (Mary) and Wilson (Velma) and a large circle of relatives and friends. John is pre-deceased by his parents John & Ada, his sister Dorcas, his two brothers, Guy and Allan, as well as Son-in-law Harry, Brother-in-law Sidney, and Sisters-in-law Emily & Frances.

John loved his family dearly and strived to give them all he could as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. His love for his Savior continued to give him the hope of one day "Going Home." On February 25, 2017, he peacefully made his final journey "Home."

John will be forever remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him.

Public visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte on Sunday, February 26th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. On Monday, February 27th, visitation will take place from the Pentecostal Church, Change Islands. The Funeral Service will take place from the church on Tuesday, February 28th at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow from the Pentecostal Church Cemetery.
