Joan passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at age 93. A graduate of Montreal General (RN) and McGill (BN), Joan's nursing career took her from Montreal to the Yukon and Baffin Island, where she traveled by bush plane between remote communities. She eventually settled in Lewisporte, NL, where she served as a public health nurse for over 20 years.

Predeceased by husbands Stirling Mair and Cyril Philpott. Loving mother of Krishna (Nathan); stepmother to Christine (Stan), Gary (Vangie), and Glen (Gordon); grandmother of four, step-grandmother of two, and great-grandmother of eight.

An intrepid traveler and active member of the Canada 55+ Games, Joan was resourceful, down-to-earth, and loved by all. A private service and interment at Eaton Cemetery, QC, will take place at a later date. In Joan's memory: "Keep your chin up!"
