It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joan Hodder (nee Peckford) announces her passing at the Notre Dame Bay Health Centre, Twillingate, NL on March 6, 2022 at the age of 80.
Although the loss is great for family and friends, hope springs eternal knowing that Joan is in the presence of her Lord and Savior bringing deep settled peace to our souls. As well, Joan looked forward in faith to being reunited with her beloved husband Lambert, who predeceased her on July 11 th , 1994, along with her three infant sons who are enjoying heaven much longer than did their days on earth.
She was also predeceased by her parents, Dorman and Ethel Peckford; children, Barry Clayton, Jerry and Paul; grandson, Paul Hodder; siblings, Ruby Pope, Louise Jardine, Juanita Barber, Beulah Barnes, Melvin Peckford and Roy Peckford.
Left to mourn her passing with fond and loving memories are her five children, Clarice (Lester Hodder), Glenn (Wanda) Hodder, Ruby (Allen) Noble, Evelyn (Nathaniel) Osmond, and Cluny (Darlene) Hodder; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother Junior (Lucy) Peckford as well as a large circle of family and friends.
Public visitation will take place from the Pentecostal Church, Stoneville, NL on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM following COVID 19 government regulations.
The funeral service for invited guest only will take place from the Pentecostal Church, Stoneville, NL on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 2 PM. The interment will follow at the old Pentecostal Church Cemetery, Stoneville, NL.
During her adult years Joan worked with her brother-in-law Sidney Hodder at the Stoneville Grocery Store after which she took over in the mid 70's, investing her time and energy in the business until 1998. Joan also served as bookkeeper for Stoneville Forest Products, a family-owned business until 2003.
The world was a much better place to live because Joan's commitment to serving her community and local church. She was a Sunday School Teacher and spent 35 years as president for the Women's Ministries. Joan was also a member of Stoneville Local Service District Committee for numerous years.
Joan loved to travel and thoroughly enjoyed her visits to many of her family members in Cambridge, ON area. While her husband Lambert was alive, they enjoyed going to the Northern Peninsula in search of bake apples and camping out. Joan also enjoyed her trips to Florida and Spain with Lewisporte Wholesalers promotions for business people.
On March 6, 2022, Joan went on a trip of a lifetime to the Paradise of God with the cost already paid for through the relationship she had with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Rest in the arms of Jesus Dear Mother until we MEET AGAIN!
