With heavy hearts we sadly announce the passing of Joan Marie Dart on August 9th, 2024 at the Lewisporte After Hours Clinic at the age of 79 years old.

She is predeceased by her husband Frank; daughter, Dolly Denise; parents Claude and Madeline Curtis; sisters, Annie and Laverne; brothers, Joseph and Arch.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Deryl (Iriesh); daughter, Darlene (Meril); five grandchildren, Althea, Natasha, Arielle, Frankie and Chloe (Nick); great grandson, Damien as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and her best friend; Linda Watton who she considered family.

Joan Dart was born in Campbellton, and married Frank Dart of Exploits Island in 1964 after he had resettled to Lewisporte. Joan considered Frank the love of her life and spent many happy years raising a family with him by her side. Joan showed unconditional love for her family and those around her and was deeply loved by all.

Joan left home at the age of 13 to work as a cleaner and cook at a hotel in Springdale. She also took the role as a nanny and housekeeper for families in Springdale and Lewisporte. After having children of her own, she began work in the dietary department at North Haven Manor in Lewisporte. She carried out her career with Central Health for 32 years and retired in 2008. Joan was a hard worker her entire life and was very proud of all her accomplishments.

Joan loved reading her bible, cooking, baking, spending time at Exploits Island and her cabin in Glenwood. She also greatly enjoyed family gatherings where she cooked enough food for half of Lewisporte and shared lots of laughter and precious memories. Joan will be immensely missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know her.

The public visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL on Sunday, August 11th, 2024 between 5-9PM.

The Funeral service will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL on Monday August 12th, 2024at 11AM. Interment to will take place from The Salvation Army Cemetery, Lewisporte, NL.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Salvation Army Cemetery fund would be greatly accepted and appreciated.
