Passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 surrounded by his family at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, NL, Mr. Harry Bond Hurley, age 84 years.

He was predeceased by his son, Glenn; parents, Alonzo and Mable; brothers, Raymond, Arthur, Bert, Terry, Eric; sister, Margaret; sister-in-law, Audrey; brother-in-law, Morley; parents-in-law, Henry and Elizabeth Blake.

Left to mourn his passing with fond and loving memories are his wife, Kathryn (Kay); daughter, Allison (Lawrence); granddaughter, Leah (Jermaine (Raymond); daughter-in-law, Chastity (Darren); sisters, Rose (Neil), Suzanne (Dale), Theresa (Butch); sisters-in-law, Ruby, Karen, Alma, Dorothy and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bond was born on Change Islands to Alonzo and Mable Hurley in 1941. At the age of 9, the family moved to Millertown and then at the age of 15, moved back to Change Islands. At the age of 15, Bond went to work in the Lumber Woods (Glenwood). At the age of 20, he met the love of his life, Kay and in 1965 they moved to Toronto and returned home the fall of 1966. On January 25, 1967, they got married and together raised their two children, Glenn and Allison.

In the spring of 1967, Bond went to work with Shell Oil on the Lake Boats for 5 years.  He then returned home to go fishing with his father-in-law and later to fish with his brother, Arthur.  The two families fished together up until the Moratorium in 1992. At approximately 1999, Bond and Kay retired and spent the rest of their life enjoying each other and their beautiful granddaughter, Leah Dawn (Pop's trout and sweetheart). Bond loved fishing, berry picking, being a prankster, eating candy, offering Brenda his ABC gum in church.

He was a kind, loving and caring man who was always there to lend a hand whether it be church related, shingling, helping neighbors in need.  He was one of the first members of the Change Islands Fire Department, he was a member of the SUF and Orange Lodge.  When he wasn't involved in these activities, he enjoyed his time moose hunting and having boil ups along shore with his buddies, Frances and Phyllis King and their kids. But above all else, he loved his Family. On September 11th of this year, Bond and Kay moved to Pleasantview Manor in Lewisporte.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Pleasantview Manor for the loving care over the last 3 months and to James Paton Memorial Hospital for the loving care given to Bond in his final days.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A Memorial Service will take place from the Anglican Church, Change Islands on Monday, December 8th at 2 PM. Interment will follow at the Anglican Church Cemetery, Change Islands.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Daffodil House or the Change Islands Fire Department will be gratefully accepted.
