It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our patriarch; Harry Colbourne at the age of 90 years on November 9, 2021.  He left us peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Purcell's Harbour, Twillingate, NL.  He was the son of the late Ralph and Gertie Colbourne.  He was predeceased by his oldest son, William (Bill), brother Eric and granddaughter Alice.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Daisy (nee Park) with whom they shared a 70 year love story. His children Ruth (Jean Menard); Terry (Gwen); Wade (Debbie); Susann (Tony Collins); Katherine Mills; and Craig (Taira), as well as his sister Joan Russell, sister-in-law Betty Colbourne; and sister and brother-in-law Roslyn and Clyde Dominey. As well as sixteen grandchildren and eleven Great-Grandchildren, and a large number of nephews and nieces. Family was his greatest joy.

A long time resident of Lewisporte, he was the owner of the Lewisporte Dry Cleaners. With Daisy as the office manager and Harry as the operations, they opened Lewisporte Dry Cleaners and Laundry in 1961 which he was involved with for more than 50 years.  All of his children, at one point or another, worked in the business with him and he noticed if we were tardy in reporting to work.  Harry would take his kids camping and every weekend was a different adventure.  Nights spent at Goodyears Cove, Sandy Lake or Big Falls.  The adventures continued after the kids grew up.  They travelled across Canada and parts of the United States.  They enjoyed more than 30 years of wintering in Florida, which Harry would say kept them young.  Harry was a talented story teller, his version of how he met Daisy always ended in laughter.  Years later, Harry purchased his childhood home in Purcell's Harbour which resulted in many family get together and treasured memories.

When he first arrived in Lewisporte, he worked as a mechanic at the Lewisporte Garage from Monday-Friday and during the evenings he drove a taxi.  Many Friday evenings he would drive across Newfoundland to Corner Brook and drive taxi during the weekend.

Harry was an active member of the Lewisporte Masonic Lodge as well as the Mazol Shiners for more than 50 years. Harry had a passion for boating from the skiff trap in Twillingate to his sailboat Lola in Lewisporte.  He had memorable trips sailing in Notre Dame Bay.

Harry will always be remembered fondly in the hearts of many.

Public visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte on Thursday, November 11, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM following COVID government regulations. A friendly reminder to all attending the visitation to have your VaxPass ID ready to be scanned upon arrival.

The funeral service will take place from St. Pauls Anglican Church, Lewisporte, NL on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 2 PM. VaxPass ID will be required there as well.
