Obituary

Passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the Lewisporte Health Center, Lewisporte, NL, Mr. Harold Nippard, age 69 years.

He was born to Herman and Ada Nippard at Botwood Hospital.  He married Elizabeth Ann Dalley of Twillingate on September 5, 1975.  From beginning to end, she was the love of his life! And they had one daughter Susan, who lit up both of their lives.

Harold always wanted to be an RCMP officer and his dream was realized in July, 1973. He served for thirty eight years in his home province, serving in Bell Island, Labrador City, Trepassey, Springdale, Bonavista, Flowers Cove, Grand Falls-Windsor (2 terms), Carmanville and Port Aux Basques. He was promoted to Staff Sargent during his tenure at Grand Falls-Windsor. He was respected and deeply appreciated by the officers he directed and by the communities he served! In recognition of his service, he was awarded the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2002.

He retired to his home town Embree in 2012.  But his love for public service was not to be denied, and he volunteered valuable service as member of council and Mayor of Embree, Chaired the Calpyso Foundation, became a member of the Regional Scholarship Foundation and the Embree Cemetery Committee.

He will be remembered as officer of distinction in the Force, a man with a big heart, his passion for the out of doors, as a great storyteller,a wonderful sense of humor, but most of all for his love of Liz and his never to be forgotten, Susan.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Susan; parents, Herman and Ada Nippard; mother and father-in-law, George and Eleanor Dalley; sisters, Ellen Hynes and Violet Hill; brothers, Brian and Albert; sister-in-law, Rose Jenkins. Left to mourn his passing with fond and loving memories are his wife of 49 years, Liz; step-mother, Pearl; siblings, Wilson (Fronie), Raymond (Madeline), Lloyd (Marlene), Glenn (Diane), Mary, Jeff (Diane), brothers and sister-in-law, Eric Hynes, Valine Hill, Joan Ford, Vicki Maynard-Nippard, Allister (Irene) Dalley, Carl Jenkins and a large circle of other relatives and friends.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
