Obituary

Passed peacefully away on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, NL, Mr. Harold Leslie Martin, aged 79 years.

Born January 6, 1941 Harold Leslie Martin lived his whole life in Lewisporte, NL.  He started work at Sid Hodders Gas Station, then went to work at the CN Railway. Harold retired as a truck driver with Blue Buoy Foods. While working at Sid's Gas Station he met his best friend and love of his life Ruby. They spent 58 happy years raising four wonderful children, Greg, Brenda, Tony and Bev. They then found a new joy and love with their three grandchildren, Jonathan, Jennifer and Phoenix.

Aside from his family, he also loved serving God, especially through serving others. He was a senior soldier, a flag Sargent, a member of Joy Fellowship and Men's Fellowship. He loved packing hampers, picking up the gifts under the happy tree and cooking many meals for church events.

Harold also enjoyed volunteering at Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home where he once again got to offer the gentle love and kindness he was known for.

He will be dearly missed by many family and friends. His love, laughter and kindness will be in the hearts of everyone.

He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Myrtle; sister, Louise; brother, Charles.

Left to mourn his passing with fond and loving memories are his loving wife of 58 years, Ruby; children, Greg (Brian), Brenda, Tony(Ralph), Bev (Pam); his prides of joy, Jonathan (Teisha), Jennifer, and Phoenix; siblings, George, Viola, Jim and Sheila; as well as a large circle of family and friends.

Public visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL on Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 2-5 PM while following Covid-19 government regulations.

The funeral service will take place from The Salvation Army Citadel, Lewisporte, NL on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 2:30 pm for invited guest only.

As expressions of sympathy, donations in his memory can be made to the Newfoundland Lung Association.
