With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Harold Wayne Linfield (Wayne) of Loon Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador. Wayne passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's on Monday, April 13, 2026, at the age of 69, with his loving family by his side.

Born on January 11, 1957, in Gander, Wayne was the eldest of six siblings. He was a devoted husband, father, and proud grandfather who placed family at the center of everything he did.

Wayne will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Jessie; his son, Lucas (Angel); his daughter, Chelsea (Christopher); and his cherished granddaughter, Olivia, who meant the world to him. He also leaves to mourn his brother, John (Debbie); his sisters, Jackie (Scott), Joanne (Roy), Janice, and Jennifer (Rod); his aunt, Marilyn, and uncle, Hardy; in-laws, Bob (Gloria), Ralph (Irene), and Earl (Ellen); as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Harold and Minnie Linfield; his parents, Gerald and Kathleen Head; his uncle, Robert Linfield; and his brother-in-law, Randy House.

Wayne began his career at a young age in Alberta with Suncor Energy, where he developed a strong work ethic and lifelong dedication to his  trade. Like many Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, however, the pull of home never left him, and he was eventually drawn back east to work with Vale at the Voisey's Bay Mine in Labrador, dedicating 21 years of service and working right up until his passing. Wayne was highly respected by his coworkers for his leadership, reliability, and willingness to lend a hand—qualities that left a lasting impact on all who worked alongside him.

When he wasn't working, Wayne found his greatest joy at home in Loon Bay—on the water in his boat, in the woods hunting and fishing, and most importantly, surrounded by his family and beloved granddogs (Finn and Mango). He also treasured every opportunity to visit his granddaughter, Olivia, in Nova Scotia.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences Centre and the James Paton Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care and support.

In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place.

Public visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 2-4 PM.
