It is with great sadness that the family of Harold Thomas Batt announces his passing on September 24, 2026, at the age of 91.

Harold was born in Herring Neck, Newfoundland, where he spent his early years before moving to Corner Brook. He worked at various jobs before beginning his longtime career with Canada Post, where he served as a Postmaster for many years.

It was in Corner Brook that Harold met the love of his life, June. They married and together welcomed three beautiful children. In 1977, Harold and his family moved to Lewisporte, where he continued his career and where he and June raised their family and built a wonderful life together.

Harold was an avid fisherman and hunter who had a great love for the outdoors. Some of his happiest times were spent camping at Big Falls, where he would salmon fish on the Humber River, and at his cabin in Indian Arm Central. Both places held a special place in his heart, not only for the time spent enjoying nature, but also for the many wonderful friendships he made along the way.

Harold was also a proud Mason for over 65 years, a commitment that was an important part of his life and reflected the fellowship and friendships he valued so deeply.

Harold was predeceased by his parents, Garnet and Lauretta Batt; his beloved wife, June; brother Milligan; sister-in-law, Mildred; and daughter-in-law, Denise Batt.

Left to mourn with loving memories are his children, Gary (Kelly), Glenn (Angie), and Lisa (Chris Watton); his partner, Marion Legge; grandchildren, Gregory (Sabrina), Keranda, Nicholas (Michelle), Lucas (Morina), Mackenzie Peddle and Alexis Peddle, Lily (Adam) Hillier, and Reese Watton; and great-grandchildren, Auston, Benson. and Rowan.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Reverend Jean, and to all of those who cared for him in his final days, JPMH emergency dept, and the North Haven Manor Palliative care team. We would also like to extend thanks to the staff of Kingsway Living during his residency.

Visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 7-9PM.

Funeral service will take place from the St. Paul's Anglican Parish, Premier Drive, Lewisporte, NL on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 3PM.

Donations in Harold's memory may be made to the Anglican Church Parish of Lewisporte.

Harold will be remembered for his love of family, the outdoors, and the many friendships he formed throughout his life. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the places he loved, and the many lives he touched.
