Passed away at the North Haven Manor, Lewisporte on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, Mr. Gordon Woodford, age 92 years.
Gord married his sweetheart Helen Nicholas on December 13, 1950. They had 3 girls, Brenda, Dianne and Barbie. He started work at the Salt and Coal Boats at the age of 14. He then went to work at the CN Marine for 45 years. He loved singing and band music. In fact, he was the band master for many years in the Lewisporte Corp. In later years because of health issues, he was unable to attend church but many times you would hear him sing and would share of good times past. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Chesley and Susie Woodford and Lillian Rowsell; siblings, Warrick (Mildred), Garland (Peggy), Queenie (Wilson Conway), Pleaman, Eliza (Harry); nephew and nieces, Fred and Maxine Conway and Vicky Woodford; sisters-in-law, Ivy and Mary Woodford; brother-in-law, Baxter Rowsell. Left to mourn his passing with fond and loving memories are his wife of almost 72 years, Helen; children, Brenda (Bruce Cole), Dianne (Grayson Rice) and Barbara; grandchildren, Gordie (Lorelei), Jeffery (Meredith); great-grandchildren, Braydon, Abigail, Mheadow, Aimee; siblings, Madeline, Ted, Rowena (David), Winston (Yvonne), Ross (Mabel), Dave (Elsie) and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Family visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte on Thursday, September 15 th from 7-9 PM. Public visitation will take place from the Funeral Home on Friday, September 16 th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will take place from the Salvation Army Citadel, Lewisporte on Saturday, September 17 th at 2 PM. Interment will follow from the Salvation Army Cemetery, Stanhope.
As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army Cemetery, Stanhope would be gratefully accepted.
