Jul 1, 1933 — May 29, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we, the family of the late Gordon Quinlan, announce his peaceful passing at North Haven Manor, Lewisporte, NL at the age of 90 years.
Gordon was born on July 1, 1933 in Birchy Bay, NL. In his early 20's he met a young lady, Carrie Starks from Valleyfield, NL who had moved to Birchy Bay to teach. They married in August 1958 and together raised four children in a home filled with love, laughter and endless support. Gordon and Carrie loved the lord, lived a Christian life and really cared about the family's physical and spiritual wellbeing.
Gordon was a man of many work talents. Some of his many jobs included lobster fishing in his younger years, logging, pulp wood cutting, cooks helper in the wood camps and road construction, His final 15 years of working involved peeling pulpwood for export. He was always known as a very responsible worker who had an unyielding work ethic. Many of the people he worked with became lifelong friends. He will be remembered for his industrious spirit, his sense of humor and his warm and welcoming heart.
His love for the woods knew no bounds. He enjoyed cutting and hauling wood, picking berries, going for long walks and staking out new places to cut wood. He was always very active and kept himself busy doing odd jobs around his property and helping family and friends. Gordon was a very pleasant man who deeply loved his family. He was a devoted husband, son, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a loyal friend.
