Passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Mr. Gordon Clifford Layden, age 88 years.

He is predeceased by his parents, Wallace and Florance; sons, Clayton and Freeman; sisters, Isabelle Luff and Maude Tapp.

Left to mourn his passing with fond and loving memories are his wife, Rita; children, Nancy (David Ballman) and Denise Layden; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Paul Levesque), David Ballman, Alischia Taylor, Jaylen Taylor and Aniyah Harris; great-grandchildren, Olivia Marie Ballman and Gabriel Ballman; siblings, Abner(Fay),Sydney (Irene), Jane Proper, Effie (Albert Churchill), Gertie Barrett, Alma (Lewis Tapp), Lillian Osbourne, Lawrence (Marion) and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public visitation took place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral home, Lewisporte on Tuesday, June 7th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service took place from St. Matthews United Church, Lewisporte on Wednesday, June 8th at 2 PM. The interment followed from the United Church Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Matthews United Church would be gratefully accepted.
