It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Gerald Joseph "Jody" Hanlon on June 28th, at the age of 59.

Born on July 8, 1966, Jody was the beloved son of Grace and the late Ron Hanlon, a devoted father to his daughter, Morgan, and the cherished partner of Lynda for the past twenty years.

Jody grew up in the Hanlon Garden in Norris Arm South, Newfoundland where family, kindness, laughter, and community shaped the man he would become. Although he built a wonderful life in Manitoba, Newfoundland was always home in his heart. He remained deeply connected to his family, lifelong friends, and cousins, always asking about their lives, celebrating their successes, and making time for the people he loved.

After graduating from high school, Jody moved to Toronto, where he worked alongside his brother Danny and helped many younger family members find their own footing. His career eventually brought him to Manitoba, where he lived in Winnipeg and Brandon before making Onanole his home. In recent years, Jody found great fulfillment in his work as a real estate agent with Royal LePage, where his genuine care for people, strong work ethic, and natural ability to connect made him both respected and trusted by clients and colleagues alike.

In Manitoba, Jody built a life filled with friendship, laughter, and community. He was known for his warm smile, quick wit, generous heart, and remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. He never met a stranger, only a friend he hadn't yet gotten to know. Whether sharing a story, lending a hand, cheering on a hockey game, travelling with friends, or simply asking how you and your family were doing, Jody left people feeling seen, valued, and cared for. He gave generously of his time to his community, coaching and refereeing hockey and playing an important role in helping build the Onanole Rec Centre into what it is today. Jody had a lifelong passion for hockey, playing the game he loved from the age of 12 until his passing, and he also enjoyed many good games of softball with friends and family.

His greatest joy was spending time with those he loved. He treasured his relationship with his daughter, Morgan, and was immensely proud of the life she's building. He shared twenty wonderful years with his beloved Lynda, whose love and devotion brought him great happiness. He loved travelling with family and friends, especially cruising, where his humour, storytelling, and love of good food created memories that will be cherished forever.

Jody was predeceased by his father, Ron.

Leaving to mourn with cherished memories are his beloved Lynda,his daughter, Morgan; his mother Grace, his brother, Danny (Minerva); his sister, Paula (Mike) Mallay, his nieces, McCailey and Keegan Mallay, his Onanole chosen family Dan and Mandi Riffle and their children Owen and Mikayla, his childhood friend and life long buddy Rodney Walsh, his Onanole Hockey League family, his softball family Sportys' Originals, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and a large circle of lifelong friends in Newfoundland, Manitoba, and Ontario.

Jody's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the community of Onanole and surrounding area for the extraordinary kindness, compassion, and support shown to Lynda, Morgan, and our family during this difficult time. Your love has brought great comfort.

Cremation has taken place.

Jody's family will be accepting visitation on Tuesday July 21st from 6pm-8pm Our Lady Mount Carmel Church Norris Arm, Newfoundland. Funeral services will take place on July 22, 2pm and Interment at Our Lady Mount Carmel Cemetery Norris Arm. A celebration of Jody's life will take place in Onanole, Manitoba, at a date to be determined.
