Passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025 at the Lionel Kelland Hospice, Grand Falls-Windsor, Mr. George Wilfred Menchenton, at the well lived age of 96 years.

George was a hard working, fun loving, witty and caring Family man who loved life and celebrated it every opportunity he had with music and friends. He had a quick smile for everyone and loved a good yarn.  He played accordion to his friend's guitars and singing at many campsites and occasions. He worked from a teenager until the age of 64 as a logger.  He loved the woods! He lost his wife of 62 years and the love of his life, Hilda in 2012.  He visited the gravesite every morning without fail for another 11 ½ years.  Dad, we are so proud to be your children.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Alfred and Althea Menchenton; father, John Menchenton; mother, Priscilla Hewitt; wife, Hilda; son, Scott; daughter, Marilyn; grandson, Lee; siblings, Kaywood and Rowena; brothers, Ken, Alf, Roland and Norman; brother-in-law, Eli Osmond.

Left to mourn his passing with fond and loving memories are his sons, Wilfred (Paula), Kenneth (Gladys), Murvyn (Peggy), Roy (Ann), Garland (Carrie), Harold (Tabitha), Kevin; daughters, Deanna (Herb), Karen (Kenneth); 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Pleaman (Joan), John (Debbie), Milton (Marina), Alex (Lillian), Vera (Valmond), Pansy, Madeline (Wayne), Marge (Carl), Doreen (Don) and a large circle of other relatives and friends.

Public visitation will take place from the United Church, Norris Arm North on Thursday, January 16th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.  The Funeral Service will take place from the United Church, Norris Arm South on Friday, January 17th at 1 PM.  The interment will follow from the old United Church Cemetery, Norris Arm North.

In the last days of his life, the Family were so thankful to the nursing staff and doctors of 3B, Central NL Regional Health Center and to the Lionel Kelland Hospice who helped their dad pass with grace and dignity while be surrounded by his loving Family.

As expressions of sympathy and In Lieu of flowers, donations to the Lionel Kelland Hospice, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL will be gratefully accepted.
