Passed away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, NL, Mr. George Francis Aucoin, aged 85 years.

Left to mourn his passing with fond and loving memories are his wife, Clara Ann; son, Gary (Lori); granddaughters, Haley (Alyis) and Cassidy (Kody); great-grandson, Declyn; sister-in-law, Betty (Derek White); niece, Sarah; nephew, Todd and a large circle of other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Margaret Aucoin.

George was born in Reserve Mines, NS where he spent his early childhood. He moved to Ontario to live with his aunt in 1954 where he started playing Jr. A hockey

In 1956 he found his way to Corner Brook NL,  to play hockey with the Royals. Here he met the love of his life Clara Ann and got married in 1965. They had their only child Gary in 1967.

In 1971 the family moved to their forever home of Lewisporte where he became a prominent member of the business community. He opened G & D Home Center and ran it until 1985. During these years he was involved with many community groups such as the Chamber of Commerce, North Haven Manor Board of Directors, and the Stadium Board.

After semi retiring he found a new passion…Creating Aucoin's Woodcrafts. He was a permanent fixture at many local trade shows especially the 1st booth to the right at the Lewisporte Craft and Trade show.

In his latter years he enjoyed his poker and crib clubs and spent many hours in the garden with his granddaughters and their dogs.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm at Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL.

A private service for family and close friends will take place.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to The Heart & Stroke Foundation will be gratefully accepted.
