Passed away at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Care Center, Grand Falls-Windsor on Sunday, February 8, 2015 surrounded by his loving children, Mr. Garland Simms, age 87 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Edgar and Jane Simms; sisters, Audrey (Ronald Gill), Rowena (Thomas Gavin); brother, Wilson (Sybil) Simms; special niece, Betty Hancock and daughter-in-law, Glenna Simms.

Left to mourn with very fond and loving memories are his wife, Catherine of 62 years and his four children, Violet (Eric Chaulk), Edgar (Judi), Heather (Chris Dwyer), Winna (Jim Ryan); five grandsons, Jamie Ryan (Jess), Matthew Dwyer (Tammy), Adam Dwyer (Jessica), Mark Simms (Mandy) and Shane Ryan (Julia); three precious great-granddaughters, Carly, Raquia and Raquel Dwyer; one sister, Ruby Torraville; brothers-in-law, Albert Gill and Cluney Gill (Maisie) as well as a large circle of family and friends.

Public visitation took place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte on Monday, February 9th from 7-9 PM; Tuesday, February 10th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service took place from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Lewisporte on Wednesday, February 11th at 2 PM.

As expressions of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations were made in his memory to the Lewisporte Fire Rescue or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
