Emma was born to William and Rosie Rowsell of Norris Arm South, where she lived until her marriage to Stephen Janes of Embree on January 30, 1945. They then resided there and raised their family of five.
Emma was a faithful member of The Salvation Army Church in Embree, giving many years in leadership in the women's group, "The Home League".
Her family and her church activities were her two great passions in life. A very caring person, with a kind word and helping hand for anyone in need.
Emma slipped quietly into the arms of her Lord on Friday, November 11th 2016. She was predeceased by her husband, Steve; infant son, Stephen and Terry (21yrs). Also her parents, six brothers and two sisters. Left to mourn her passing are her four daughters, Triffie (Roy), Mary (Hardy), Judy, and Frances (Pat); grandchildren, Stephen, Bill, Pamela, Lisa, Nicole, Terry, Sarah, Amanda, and 11 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. The Celebration service will be at The Salvation Army church, Lewisporte, NL, Sunday November 13th at 2pm. Interment to follow at the Community Cemetery, Embree, NL. Donations in her memory may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main St., Lewisporte, NL.
