It is with great sadness that the family of the late Effie Mondella Owens announces her passing at the age of 79 years at the North Haven Manor, Lewisporte, NL on January 18, 2017.

Effie is predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Elsie Freake; brothers, Malcolm Freake, William Freake and Bert Freake; sister-in-law, Vera Stockley.

Left to mourn her passing with fond and loving memories are her devoted husband of 59 years, Bruce Owens; son Gordon Owens (Joan); granddaughter, Sherri Owens (Scott Anstey); sisters, Hazel Harvey, Edith (Lorenzo Langdon), Minnie Hilliard, Mabel Taylor (Ross Woodford); brothers, Andrew Freake (Mabel), Jim Freake (Deborah); brother-in-law, Ron Owens (Hope); sisters-in-law, Mavis (Leslie Simms), Stella Freake, Daphne Freake and a large circle of family and friends.

Public visitation took place from the Pentecostal Church, Norris Arm North, NL on Thursday, January 19, 2017 and Friday, January 20, 2017 from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM. The funeral service took place from the church on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 2 PM. The interment followed from the Pentecostal Church Cemetery, Norris Arm North, NL.

As expressions of sympathy, donations in her memory were made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
