Passed peacefully away at her private residence surrounded by her loving family on Sunday,  August 16, 2026, Ms.  Effie Edith Churchill, age 81 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Albert; parents, Leonard & Florence Layden; siblings, Jane Prosper, Gordon Layden, Isabel Luff, Maud Tapp, Sidney Layden, Lillian Osbourne, Gertie Barrett.

Left to mourn her passing with fond and loving memories are her children, Wesley, Eugene (Patricia), Lorne, Donna (Jeff); grandchildren Dylan, Kylie (Mike), Caleb, Conner; siblings, Abner (Fay), Lawrence, Alma Marie; special nieces, Maizey, Jo-Ann, Jacqueline; sister-in-law, Irene Layden and a large circle of family and friends.

Effie found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially cooking and gardening. She was a proud lifetime member of the LOBA Lodge, an organization that held a special place in her heart. Above all, her greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment spent together, creating memories that will forever be cherished.

Public visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte, NL, on Tuesday August 18, 2026 from 2-4PM & 7-9PM.

The Funeral Service will take place from St. Paul's Anglican Church on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 11AM.

As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to The Daffodil Place or Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre would be gratefully accepted.
