Obituary

Passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at the Lionel Kelland Hospice, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Mr. Dean Wells, age 54 years.

Dean was born in Baie Verte on July 22, 1969 to parents, Varrick and Marie Wells.  He was the third of four children, with two older brothers David and Denis and a younger sister, Joni.  The family moved around a little bit when he was a young boy, spending some time in Goose Bay, Churchill Falls, and Wild Cove, but the majority of his childhood and teenage years were spent in Baie Verte.  Dean fished with his dad during his teenage years until he was 20 years old, at which point he made his way to Toronto to live.  From there he moved to Medicine Hat and other parts of Alberta, then to Victoria, BC where he spent 15 years, then back to Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, and finally moved on to settle in Cornwall, ON for the last several years of his life.  Dean had a Class 1 as well as a Class 8 license.  Despite this, he chose to pursue a career at Canadian Tire, having worked there in BC as well as in Ontario.  Dean was a very social person and he loved the camaraderie he formed with his co-workers and thrived on providing excellent service to his customers.  The solitude of driving was just not for him. He loved people and everyone who met him loved him.  He was the most humble, kind, and silly person and his gregarious nature had a memorable impact on everyone he encountered.  Dean will be remembered fondly by many people from coast to coast, but none more so than his family, who will always look to the kindness of his heart and the humor of his ways in times of sorrow and of strength.

He was predeceased by his father, Varrick and his brother, Denis; grandparents, Jabez & Jessie Wells and Pearce & Maria Russell.

Left to mourn his passing with fond and loving memories are his mother, Marie; brother, David; sister, Joni (Kader Omar); nieces, Amy and Maria;  nephew, Adam; special friend, Sylvia and a large circle of other relatives and friends.

Public visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL on Friday, July 19th from 7-9 PM.  The Funeral Service will take place from the Funeral Home on Saturday, July 20th at 11 AM.

As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Lionel Kelland Hospice, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL will be gratefully accepted.
