Obituary

With heavy hearts and profound sadness the family of the late David Young announce his passing at the Central NL Regional Health Care Center, Grand Falls-Windsor at the age of 73.

Dave loved life especially his family and friends.  He loved the great outdoors, had a passion for cutting wood and cherished his time "down home" fishing, birding and sealing with his buddies.  He had many stories to tell about all that he had done.  Dave loved people and that was reflected in the many long time friendships Dave and Rosalyn formed in their 50 years of marriage.  He cherished his friends and appreciated all the good deeds they did for him when challenges came his way.  His love for his family was obvious and evident each and every day.

Dave was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Jessie Young who raised him in a loving home in Twillingate; his parents, Gladys Young and Edward Hartery,  his special uncle, Wilf (Margaret), Aunt Myrtle (Jim Parsons), nephew, Donald and many uncles, aunts and cousins in Twillingate. He was also predeceased by his parents-in-law, Walter and Beth Woolfrey, brothers-in-law, Don, Luke and Lewis.

Left to cherish precious memories and carry on his legacy are his devoted wife Rosalyn; his daughters who he loved dearly, Tina and Cindy and granddaughter, Cara, the joy of his life, special sons-in-law, Blair and Cory and step-grandson, Jack. Also left to mourn are his sisters Pansy, Bonnie, Christine and their families, special family members, Deanne Smith, Uncle Frank Hartery and cousin Connie, brother-in-law, Ivan (Louise);  sisters-in-law, Maxine, Yvonne, Betty, many nieces, nephews, and their families and his canine pals, Rover, Knight and Chester.

Leaving behind many numerous friends as he worked at Lewisporte Wholesalers for his whole career.  Both him and Rosalyn were members of the Kinsmen Club of Notre Dame and treasured the Kin family. Also both members of the 50+ Club.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A visitation for family and friends will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte on Sunday, December 11th from 7-9 PM.  The Memorial Service will take place from St. Matthews United Church, Lewisporte on Monday, December 12th at 2 PM.

As expressions of sympathy, flowers or donations to Lionel Kelland Hospice, Grand Falls-Windsor will be gratefully accepted.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful nurses at Community Health who went above and beyond for Dave, to Dr. Collins who provided great care over the years, Freakes Ambulance Service, the Emergency Department at the Central NL Regional Health Care Center, Grand Falls-Windsor and to Greg and Shelley Woolfrey for being such a comfort in dads final hours.

"Go Rest High On That Mountain,
