Bride Mary
Flynn
Jun 10, 1929 — Apr 22, 2019
Bride passed peacefully away on April 22, 2019 at Lakeside Home in Gander. She was 89 years old.
Born and raised in Fortune Harbour, Notre Dame Bay, she divided her formative years between education and working in her parents' general store and fish factory. Bride was a hard worker from the beginning. After high school, she traveled to Littledale College, Memorial University to attain her teaching certificate. It was there she had made lifelong friends who were later well known and appreciated by her family.
Bride was a woman before her time. After Littledale, she taught in North River, Conception Bay and Fortune Harbour, Notre Dame Bay before settling in Norris Arm for the remainder of her career. It was in Norris Arm she met and married Chris Flynn. In Norris Arm she shared fifty-nine years of married life, raised four children, continued to teach and worked in the Flynn General Store. Bride taught all levels in the school system – primary, elementary, intermediate and high. She held positions of both vice and principal. All of this was accomplished while raising her children, bringing them to activities and upgrading her own education.
Travelling was one of Bride's favorite pastimes. With her husband Chris, she visited many parts of Canada, the United States and Europe. However, her favorite pastime was celebrating family events such as birthdays, holidays, weddings and special dinners. She was a dedicated and appreciated friend to many but will be most greatly missed by her children - Maureen, Tim, Chris and Rob.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children – Maureen (Sheldon), Tim (Christina), Chris (Jody), and Rob (Joanne), Grandchildren – Christopher (Victoria), Michael (Raie Lene), Megan, Stephanie (Matthew), Steven, Melanie, Katie (Matthew), Laura, Jennifer (Chris), Justin, James (Michelle), Andrew, Michael, Emily, and great granddaughter Bridget Rose. She is also survived by brothers Angus and Bill and sisters Mary and Alice. Bride Flynn has touched the lives of many and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Public visitation will take place from the Roman Catholic Church, Norris Arm on Thursday, April 25 th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will take place from the Roman Catholic Church, Norris Arm on Friday, April 26th at 2 PM. Interment will follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Norris Arm.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Gander Food Bank, 111-B Memorial Drive, Gander, NL; A1V 1A9 will be greatly accepted.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL.
