Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Hill, age 89, who was promoted to glory on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Leo Hill; sons, James and Brian; parents, Oiason and Gwendolyn; niece, Helen; mother and father-in-law, Chesley and Beatrice Hill; sisters-in-law, Jessie and Marion (Bob); brother-in-law, Neil and other family members who passed before her.

Left to mourn her passing with fond and loving memories are her children, Paul (Judy), David (Selma), Joe, and Matthew (Donna); daughters- in-law, Gloria and Loretta; grandchildren, Charlene, Ashley, Russell, Dean, Venus, Sherry, Shane, Andrea, Mackenzie, Joshua and Amy; great-grandchildren, Bruce, James, Lydia, Clarke, Spencer, Bramwell, Thomas Jones; great-great-grandchildren, Ophelia and Octavia; sisters and brother, Janette (Royden), Bramwell, Peggy (Maxwell); brother-in-law, Roy (Loretta) as well as a large circle of family and friends.

Betty was a devoted member of her church, where she was a member of the home league for 73 years. She found great joy in tending to her garden and flowers, as well as singing, baking and cooking. Betty had a fun-loving personality and loved to be silly bringing laughter and happiness to those around her. She had a special love for Christmas and took great pleasure in decorating for the holidays. Most of all, she loved her boys fiercely and treasured spending time with her family. She also enjoyed shopping and always loved having her hair done. Betty's warm spirit, loving heart and joyful personality will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Public visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte, NL, on Thursday August 13, 2026 from 6PM-9PM.

The Funeral Service will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL, on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 2PM.

Following the Celebration of Life Service there will be a motorcade that will stop at The Salvation Army Church in Campbellton before proceeding to interment at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Campbellton, NL.

As expressions of sympathy, flowers or donations to the Alzheimer's Society will be gratefully accepted.
