Passed away at the Lewisporte Health Center, Lewisporte, NL, Mrs. Bessie Downton, age 91 years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas; parents, Arthur and Patience Osmond; daughter, Sandra Carroll; 2 infant sons, Harold Roy and Perry Roger; great-grandson, Lucas Porter;son-in-law, Chesley Melindy; 6 sisters and 1 brother.

Left to mourn her passing with fond and loving memories are her children, John (Marion), Louie (Bob Foss), Beulah Melindy; Bruce (Marilyn), Ruth (Jerry Day), Doug (Wanda), Shelley (David Coates); grandchildren, Perry, Joan, Diane, Chad, Cindy, Dean, Dawn, Angela, Ashley, Devin, Camille, Justin, Adam, Ryan, Jeff, Gregory; 16 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Mick Carroll and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public visitation took place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home Lewisporte, NL on Friday, November 4, 2016 from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM. The funeral service took place from The Salvation Army Citadel, Lewisporte, NL on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 2 PM. The interment followed from The Salvation Army Cemetery, Lewisporte, NL.
