Passed peacefully away on Monday, August 7, 2023 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, NL, Bernard Hayward Fancey, age 75 years.

Bernard was a volunteer fireman who joined the Gander Bay Fire Department in 1988 and retired as Deputy Chief in 2019.  No matter what time the call came, he always responded.  His love for community and his Family was evident to all who had the honor to know him. Bernard loved to salmon fish, and spent many hours on the Gander River patiently waiting for the big one. His biggest joys in life were his wife Pansy, his 2 children, and his 4 grandchildren whom he adored and who adored him in return. The world has lost a great man who will be missed immeasurably.

He was predeceased by his parents, Claude and Olive Fancey; siblings, Madge and Carl; brother-in-law, Reg Strowbridge.

Left to mourn his passing with fond and loving memories are his wife, Pansy; children, Lisa (Jamie), Corey (Angie); grandchildren, Kristen, Abby, Alexander, Gabriel; siblings, Effie Strowbridge, Ada (Clifford Piekavski), Judy (Cyril Bauld), Derrick (Marilyn), Dale and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Special thanks to Dr. Paulus and Nurses on medical and orthopedics for their care and compassion.

Public visitation will take place at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Wings Point, NL on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.

The funeral service will take place from the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Wings Point, NL on Thursday, August 10th, 2023 at 2 PM. Interment will follow at the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Clarkes Head, NL.

As expressions of sympathy, flowers or donations to the family will be gratefully accepted.
