It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dad, Aus, on Monday, December 1, 2025, at James Paton Memorial Hospital, at the age of 71.

Predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Melinda Holmes (nee Nichol); brother, Melvin (Lillian); brothers-in-law, Eli and Reg;

Leaving behind with many special memories are his son, Jody (Sherri); his daughters, Pauline (Shawn) and GinaLee (Jeff); his grandchildren, Jaylie, Rebecca, Ashton, Bella, Ava and Mya.

A beloved brother, Aus is survived by his sisters, Frances, Betty (Roy) and Daphne (Dave); brothers, Max (Lorraine) and Calvin (Lila); Aus is also survived by his extended family whom he considered not only family, but great friends, including numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Much gratitude for all family and friends that visited, delivered meals, sweet treats, and played countless (though Dad counted and documented every win & loss) games of crib with him on days when he was feeling up to it, especially over his nearly 6 months of hospital stay.

Aus was smart and loving in his own way, with a great sense of humor. He loved family gatherings, having a good laughs, and good conversations.

Thank you to Dr. Paulus and staff of the Orthopedics Unit, treating Dad with respect and exceptional care, ensuring his pain was adequately treated and all his needs met.

Special thanks to Jim and Pauline Snow, for their friendship and support over the years, and in his final moments. As well as his niece, Kelly, who graciously opened her heart and home to Aus and his kids, whenever they needed it.

As per Austin's wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held at this time, though his children will host a Celebration of Life next year.

As expressions of sympathy donations can be made to The Lionel Kelland Hospice in GFW or a charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
