It is with great sadness that the family of Arthur John Hurley announces his peaceful passing on November 5th, 2017 at the Health Sciences Center in St. John's, NL, at the age 68.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mabel and Alonzo; parents-in-law, Thurza and Solomon Cave; brothers, Raymond and Terry; brothers-in-law, Elam Cave, Max Parsons and Morley Peckford. Arthur will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Ruby of 48 years and his 7 children: Josephine (Ivan), Dale (Maxine), Joan (Scott), Denise (Dean), Dwayne (Heather), Donald (Lori), Madonna (Kristin); his grandchildren, Tara Dawn (Jerome), Tyler (Brittany), Troy, Brittany, Brendan, Morgan, Matthew, Victoria (Matthew), Amanda (Brady), Kyanna, Aaron, Ethan, Erica, Alexander, Nicholas, and Madison; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Adelyn and Liam; brothers, Bond (Kay), Bert (Karen), Eric (Dorothy); sisters, Margaret, Sue (Dale), Rose (Neil), Theresa (Butch); sisters-in-law, Audrey, Alma, Margaret, Julie (Lewis), Alice (Chesley), and Edna (Calvin); brother-in-law, Fred (Mary) and a large circle of extended family and friends.Arthur was a hard working, unconditionally loving man who would move heaven and earth for his family and friends. He loved a house full of friends and family, day or night, telling stories, chatting or having a laugh.
The public visitation will take place at St. Margaret's Anglican Church, Change Islands on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 7-9 PM.
A celebration of Arthur's life will take place at St. Margaret's Anglican church on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 11:30 am. The interment will follow in the St. Margaret's Anglican Church Cemetery, Change Islands, NL.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the family would be greatly accepted.
