It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Alex Lloyal Chippett, age 71, on September 18, 2024, at the Lionel Kelland Hospice in Grand Falls-Windsor, surrounded by his loving family and his cherished four-legged companions, Jake and Sandy.
Left to mourn his loss, his devoted wife of 46 wonderful years, Beulah Jane (nee Osbourne), his daughter Debbie Curlew (Fred), son Alex "Brud" (Chris), and the light of his life granddaughter Nicole (Griffin). Also survived by his siblings, Nellie Freake, Alfreda (Grant) Wheaton, Sally (Lloyd) Pond, Dan Chippett, sisters in-law Verna Chippett and Donna Chippett along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Alex was predeceased by his parents, Myrtis and Thomas Chippett, his parents-in-law, Simon and Sarah Ann Osbourne, his brothers, Allan "Dick," Bob (Jean), Ben, Dennis, Randy and brother in-law Gilbert Freake.
Born in Campbellton on June 11, 1953, Alex found joy and peace in the great outdoors. Whether it was fishing, hunting, or spending time in the woods, he embraced the beauty of and respected nature throughout his life. Alex's determination and strength were unwavering as he bravely fought and thrived through a 7-year battle with cancer. He approached his illness, like his entire life, on his own terms, with courage and resilience.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL.
Private Family Service will take place on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 3PM from the Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Alex's memory to the Gander Cancer Centre , where he received exceptional care throughout his journey.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Donna Chippett and Krista Canning for their loving care of Alex in his final months. Special thanks are also extended to Dr. Greenland and the compassionate staff at the cancer centres in Gander (who he fondly called his "girls") and St. John's, who were with him every step of the way. Finally, a sincere thank you to the staff at Lionel Kelland Hospice for the exceptional care and comfort they provided Alex and his family during his final week.
Alex will be forever missed and remembered for his strength, love of life, commitment to family and deep connection to nature.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL.
